About Us

A little history about Perfect Sense Counselling.
Perfect Sense Counselling was created west of Dubbo in 2009. I, Tracey Radford am the owner and director of Perfect Sense Counselling. I relocated to the Newcastle area in 2013. I am a single mum of 2 boys and I studied full time, worked full time and cared for my boys. It was tough haul but, I got there eventually.I have always worked in the welfare field in a number of different roles. I first started counselling in Cessnock with my now accounts manager Karen. We became so busy that naively I thought I would employ a therapist so I wasn’t as busy… I now know that as we grew my work load tripled. What Karen and I didn’t know in business we had to figure out. We did have a few false starts and we learnt things as we went along. Karen has been with me from the start and if I didn’t have her by my side, the business wouldn’t have grown like it has.
We started to look at having our own premises but couldn’t afford the prices in Cessnock. We went to Maitland and found a premises that was affordable, that gave us 9 church Street Maitland. Lucky for us our clients liked us enough to travel to Maitland. Eventually we found a place in Cessnock which leads us to 145 Vincent Street Cessnock. With continued growth we have now expanded and are servicing the greater Newcastle community with a space at 342 lake Road Glendale. My passion is about helping people regardless of race, socio economic status, religion, and sexual orientation. I believe that everyone deserves equal opportunity to counselling. I wanted to create a practice where everyone is down to earth, relatable, and affordable. I have always felt it is essential for people to feel comfortable and have a connection with their therapist so they can open up to discuss what they need to. You’re trusting us with your deepest darkest thoughts, trauma, family issues and much more, the things you haven’t been able to discuss with anyone else. So we need to make you feel comfortable with us to be able to do that without fear or judgment. I want everyone to feel they can laugh, cry, and scream if needed. Please remember there are no stupid questions at Perfect Sense Counselling, we call all questions ‘learning questions’. Make an appointment today in one of our practices at either Glendale, Cessnock or Maitland.
Thank you for joining me on my journey and I look forward to talking with you soon, Tracey
